How to Cancel Netflix, Kayo, Amazon Prime, BritBox & More in Australia

Streaming services make it easy to sign up but less obvious how to cancel. Different platforms hide the cancel button in different places — and some subscriptions can only be cancelled through Apple, Google Play, or your telco, not through the streaming website itself.

This guide shows you exactly where to go to cancel Netflix, Kayo Sports, Amazon Prime, BritBox, Binge, and Paramount+ in Australia — including how to cancel through your iPhone, Android phone, or Smart TV.

We can help at your home

Geeks at Door can help you find, cancel, or set up streaming subscriptions across your TV, phone, tablet, and computer — in your home, at your pace.

Why streaming subscriptions can be hard to cancel

There are a few common reasons why cancelling a streaming service is not straightforward:

  • The cancel button is buried in account settings, not on the home page
  • Some subscriptions were signed up through Apple, so you must cancel through iPhone Settings — not the streaming website
  • Some were signed up through Google Play and must be cancelled through the Google Play Store
  • Some are bundled with a Telstra or Foxtel plan and need to be cancelled through that provider
  • Some are added through Amazon Prime Video Channels or Apple TV Channels, which have separate cancellation paths
  • Free trials auto-convert to paid subscriptions if you do not cancel before the trial ends

The most important step is to check where you originally signed up. That is usually where you need to go to cancel.

How to cancel Netflix in Australia

Netflix can only be cancelled through a web browser. You cannot cancel through the Netflix app on iPhone or Android. If you subscribed through Apple, you must cancel through your iPhone settings.

Cancel Netflix on a computer or phone browser:

  1. Go to netflix.com and sign in.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select Account.
  4. Under Membership & Billing, click Cancel Membership.
  5. Confirm the cancellation.

You keep access to Netflix until the end of the current billing period. Netflix does not give refunds for unused time.

Important: If you signed up through the Apple App Store, the Netflix website will not show a cancel button. Cancel through Settings on your iPhone instead (see the iPhone section below).

How to cancel Kayo Sports

Kayo Sports streams Australian cricket, AFL, NRL, tennis, F1, and more. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of your billing period.

Cancel Kayo on the website:

  1. Go to kayosports.com.au and sign in.
  2. Click your account icon at the top right.
  3. Select My Account.
  4. Go to Manage Subscription.
  5. Choose Cancel Subscription.

Kayo through Telstra: If Kayo was included in or added to your Telstra plan, cancel through the My Telstra app or Telstra online account — not the Kayo website.

How to cancel Amazon Prime in Australia

Amazon Prime includes Prime Video streaming, free delivery on eligible orders, and other perks. Cancelling Prime cancels all these benefits.

Cancel Amazon Prime on the website:

  1. Go to amazon.com.au and sign in.
  2. Go to Account & Lists at the top right.
  3. Select Prime Membership.
  4. Click Manage membership or End Membership.
  5. Amazon may offer a pause or downgrade — click through to fully cancel.
  6. Confirm the cancellation.

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel through those platforms. If you access Prime Video through Amazon Prime Video Channels added via Apple TV or another device, cancel through that channel's settings.

How to cancel BritBox Australia

BritBox is a British TV streaming service available in Australia, featuring shows from the BBC, ITV, and Channel 4. The cancellation method depends on where you originally subscribed.

Cancel BritBox directly:

  1. Go to britbox.com/au and sign in.
  2. Click your profile icon or account name.
  3. Go to My Account.
  4. Select Manage Subscription.
  5. Choose Cancel Subscription.

If you subscribed through a third-party platform:

  • Apple: cancel via iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions
  • Amazon Prime Video Channels: cancel via amazon.com.au > Account > Memberships & Subscriptions
  • Apple TV Channels: cancel via the Apple TV app > Manage Subscriptions

How to cancel Binge

Binge is an Australian entertainment streaming service owned by Foxtel, with content including HBO, Warner Bros., and more.

Cancel Binge directly:

  1. Go to binge.com.au and sign in.
  2. Click your profile or account name.
  3. Select My Account.
  4. Go to Manage Subscription.
  5. Choose Cancel Subscription.

Binge through Foxtel or Telstra: If Binge was part of a Foxtel package, manage the cancellation through your Foxtel account online or by calling Foxtel. If added through Telstra, cancel via My Telstra.

How to cancel Paramount+

Paramount+ offers shows from Paramount, CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, and Showtime. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the billing period ends.

Cancel Paramount+ directly:

  1. Go to paramountplus.com/au and sign in.
  2. Click your profile icon.
  3. Go to Account Settings.
  4. Find Your Subscription.
  5. Select Cancel Subscription and confirm.

If you subscribed through Apple or Google Play, cancel through those platforms (see the sections below).

Cancel a subscription through iPhone (Apple subscriptions)

If you originally signed up for a streaming service through the Apple App Store — or if the streaming website says billing is managed by Apple — you must cancel through your iPhone settings. The streaming website will not show a cancel button in this case.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your name at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Find the streaming service you want to cancel.
  5. Tap it, then tap Cancel Subscription.
  6. Confirm the cancellation.

The Subscriptions screen also shows subscriptions that expired in the last 12 months — useful for spotting forgotten charges.

Cancel a subscription through Android (Google Play)

If you originally signed up for a streaming service through Google Play on your Android phone, cancel through the Google Play Store — not the streaming website.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app on your Android phone.
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select Payments & subscriptions.
  4. Tap Subscriptions.
  5. Find the streaming service you want to cancel.
  6. Tap Cancel subscription and confirm.

Only subscriptions originally signed up through Google Play appear here. If a service is not listed, it was signed up through the website or Apple.

Cancelling a streaming subscription through a Smart TV

Smart TV apps for Netflix, Kayo, Binge, and other services generally do not include a cancellation option inside the app. You cannot cancel directly from the TV.

To cancel, use one of these options:

  • Use the streaming service website on a computer or phone browser
  • Cancel through iPhone Settings > Subscriptions if you subscribed via Apple
  • Cancel through Google Play on Android if you subscribed via Google
  • Contact your telco (Telstra, Foxtel) if the service is bundled with your plan

If you need help setting up or removing streaming apps on your Smart TV, see our Smart TV and entertainment setup service.

How to find streaming subscriptions you forgot about

Free trials that auto-renew and old subscriptions you stopped using are easy to lose track of. Here are the main places to check:

Bank or credit card statements

Search for recurring charges from Netflix, Stan, Kayo, Binge, Paramount+, BritBox, Disney+, Apple, Google, or Foxtel. Even small monthly amounts add up.

iPhone Subscriptions list

Settings > your name > Subscriptions shows all active and recently expired Apple-billed subscriptions, including streaming services, apps, and cloud storage.

Google Play subscriptions

Google Play Store > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions lists all Android subscriptions billed through Google.

PayPal recurring payments

Log in to PayPal, go to Settings, then Payments, and select Manage Automatic Payments. Some streaming services use PayPal billing.

Telstra or internet provider account

Log in to the My Telstra app or your provider's account page. Some streaming services are included as extras on internet and phone plans.
