It depends on the amount of data being transferred. A typical computer-to-computer transfer of documents, photos and emails takes one to two hours.
Yes. Once configured, your files are backed up regularly in the background without any action needed from you. We also show you how to check that backups are running correctly.
For photos, we usually recommend two layers of protection: cloud backup through iCloud, Google Photos or OneDrive, plus a local external hard drive backup.
Ideally, yes. Local backup is fast and easy to access, while cloud backup protects against theft, fire, flood and damage to devices in the home.
Without a backup, data recovery from a failed drive may be possible, but it is not guaranteed and is usually more stressful than prevention.
